One of the core values of the FFA is the notion of servant leadership, which has been a part of the FFA since it was founded. There really is no other way to understand and relate to FFA without acknowledging the value of service. Meals from the Heartland events resonate with FFA members because of its service component and because of the direct connection with fighting food insecurity.

Many local FFA Chapters are part of smaller school systems and thus an event hosted by the FFA chapter inherently involves the school and/or community. Relationships that are strengthened during these service projects connect the school with the stakeholders in the community and set the foundation for future partnerships, partnerships that are the lifeblood of our FFA Chapters.”
