Meals from the Heartland produces two special meal formulas developed by food science and nutrition professionals to supplement nutritional needs to allow children to grow, thrive and become productive members of their community.

Despite the simplicity of our meal’s content, it is a nutritionally complex and well-balanced meal.

Our rice and soy meal is generally distributed globally, most commonly to orphanages and schools. Oftentimes children in developing areas will only eat one meal a day — at school.

Local and Global Partnerships

Meals from the Heartland partners with organizations embedded in communities that face hunger on a daily basis. Meals are shipped out nationally and literally around the world by our distribution partners, Convoy of Hope and Midwest Food Bank to on-the-ground organizations such as Many Hands for Haiti, Blessman Ministries and the Salvation Army, who are continually assessing and identifying needs of communities. Our meals often support and supplement other programs such as teaching sustainable agriculture practices, education, healthcare and more.

Crisis Relief

Our meals are also used for disaster relief, providing nutrition and hope in the midst of epidemics and natural disasters that impact entire communities. For example, Meals from the Heartland provided nearly 11 million meals to those in need in Texas, Florida, the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos and Mexico as a result of the 2017 natural disasters in those areas.

Community Support

Locally, we partner with food banks and pantries that are taking action to feed the hungry in Iowa, providing nourishment and support to individuals and families in need. In 2019 alone, more than one million meals were distributed across the state of Iowa.
