From Iowa to South Africa: Your Impact in Action

During a recent trip to South Africa, documented by KCCI’s Eric Hanson, our meals were seen in action alongside many other Iowa-led efforts bringing hope, nutrition, and opportunity to families in need. We’re honored to be one small part of that bigger story of Iowa generosity.

If you’ve ever packaged meals at the Meals from the Heartland Packaging Center in West Des Moines, you know the routine; scoop, weigh, seal, box. Every box you pack helps children get the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Because of donors and volunteers like you: 

• • 7 million meals feed children in South Africa each year, and a total of 23.3 million meals will feed children locally and all over the world in 2026
  • Hundreds and thousands of children receive a nutritious meal every week
