Feeding Hungry Children for Generations to Come
There is an old adage, some say proverb, that goes, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” The same can be said for a legacy gift, a gift designated to bear fruit in the years to come. And while a tree requires nurturing and care, so too does the decision to make a legacy gift. So, thank you in advance for considering a gift that will provide meals for hungry children in the years ahead.
What exactly is a legacy gift? For our purposes, a legacy gift is a “planned” gift that a donor arranges in the present and is allocated at a future date. The planned gift is part of the donor’s overall financial and/or estate planning — the most common being a gift through a will.
If you are ready to make a gift now, in the form of a gift in your will or a beneficiary designation, please follow the simple steps outlined below. Once complete, your legacy of feeding hungry children and people all around the world will continue.
To ensure your legacy gift is used and recognized in accordance with your wishes, you are invited to complete our Legacy Gift Intent Form.
Thank you for your consideration.
Gift in Your Will
To include Meals from the Heartland in your will, contact your lawyer and request the addition of gift language.
An example of a simple, unrestricted gift might read, “I give, devise and bequeath to Meals from the Heartland (a) the sum of $_____ or (b) _____% of my estate to be used for the benefit of Meals from the Heartland as it may determine.”
In three easy steps, you can make this gift a reality.
- Contact your insurance company, bank or financial institution for a change of beneficiary form.
- Decide what percentage (1-100) you would like to donate and indicate that percentage and our legal name on the form.
- Return the completed form as indicated.
