#GivingTuesday is December 1st!
Meals from the Heartland has joined with hundreds of organizations in the Worldwide recognition of #GivingTuesday. After giving thanks on our national holiday and the chaos of #BlackFriday, #GivingTuesday is a global effort to bring the focus of giving back to the holiday season.
For Meals from the Heartland, #GivingTuesday means additional funding to purchase the food and supplies used in the packaging events Central Iowans know so well. The donations received on #GivingTuesday as well as throughout the year, make the packaging events like the Annual Hunger Fight and events held by local churches, schools, businesses, and community groups possible.
Some upcoming Meals from the Heartland events that the #GivingTuesday mission will help support:
- The Meals from the Heartland Christmas Packaging event – December 21st, 22nd, & 23rd (two sessions each day)
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Packaging events at Meals from the Heartland as well as a possible 2nd event at the Knapp Center with the YMCA – January 18th
- Open packaging events that take place almost daily throughout the month
All of these events are free to participants because of the funding received through donations. These donations can be made by clicking the link below, through activities like #GivingTuesday, as well as partnerships with companies like Amazon and Smile.Amazon.com which donates .5% of your purchases to their partnership missions.
