Learn about starvation and help children around the world at the same time by participating in the Student Challenge!
On Wednesday August 27, 2014 more than 1,100 students from Des Moines-area high schools will come together at Hy-Vee Hall to participate in the Meals from the Heartland Student Challenge, sponsored by DuPont Pioneer. More than 450,000 meals will be packaged in just one evening as a kick-off to the Annual Hunger Fight. Pioneer is committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities where their customers and employees live and work. By working with others, we can find new and better ways to ensure that enough healthy, nutritious food is available for people everywhere.
We expect the Student Challenge spots to fill quickly so register now, and ask your friends to join you! Every student will receive a special Student Challenge t-shirt, courtesy of DuPont Pioneer.
While fundraising is not required, we do need your help. Each meal costs just 20 cents, so every donation makes an impact. Challenge your friends and teammates to raise enough money to feed one child two meals a day for one year, which is less than $150! Use our website to help you with fundraising ideas! You can donate here or bring your contribution the night of Student Challenge.
Our goal is for the Student Challenge to grow into a year-round effort providing leadership opportunities for students, bringing education of global hunger into the schools and informing students of career opportunities impacting food production while encouraging a life-long spirit of volunteerism, and helping Meals from the Heartland package food to support families in need in Iowa, the United States and worldwide.
We expect the Student Challenge spots to fill quickly so register now, and ask your friends to join you! Two packaging shifts are available on Wednesday August 27th, 5-7 P.M and 6-8 P.M. Every student will receive a special Student Challenge t-shirt, courtesy of DuPont Pioneer.
