2014 Annual Hunger Fight – Dates will be announced soon!
Meals from the Heartland is excited to announce the dates for the 2014 Annual Hunger Fight at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines. The dates are Wednesday August 27 to Saturday August 30, 2014. This year’s event will be the seventh annual and will involve 15,000 volunteers packaging 5 million meals. This event is the largest volunteer meal packaging event of its type in the United States each year. There are many ways to volunteer at the Annual Hunger Fight. Registration information will be available in July 2014 for online registration for various positions including Floor Support, Event Greeters, and Packaging Volunteers.

Help Meals from the Heartland pack 5 million meals at the 2014 Annual Hunger Fight!
Join 15,000 volunteers August 27 to 30 at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines in the largest food packaging event of its type in the United State. Our goal is to package 5 million meals!
We’re inviting students, parents, family and all community members to our seventh Annual Hunger Fight. Donate or Start Fundraising along with volunteering to package our goal of 5,000,000 meals!
Packaging Volunteer Registration
All packaging volunteers will view a training video before packaging. There are 10 volunteers per packaging table. Volunteers will wear hair net, sanitize hands, wear gloves (if filling the bags) and must remove all jewelry (click here for Jewelry Policy). Basic duties: fill bag with ingredients, weigh, seal, count and place in box. Each volunteer will be assigned one of these duties. (Click here for Volunteer Age Requirements Policy.) Floor Support volunteers will be available to assist packaging volunteers in their packaging station.

As important as our volunteer packagers are at the Annual Hunger Fight, funds to buy the necessary ingredients are just as important! Gather your friends and family to form a fundraising team NOW and get them excited about packaging during our Annual Hunger Fight. Online teams that help raise funds for the August event will get to sign up for packaging early!
